| The droughts which affected NE Kenya did not directly affect our projects, but drove up food prices across the region. Despite the hard economic conditions, we managed to make good progress on our projects:
The Sunshine Home provided care for 93 boys and we had the joy of seeing James Maina appointed as a ranger with Kenya Wildlife Service.
Support from Canadian friends meant that we were able to put up more greenhouses at the Sunshine Home to provide fresh food and local income generation. Mission Care UK also helped fund the older boys’ dormitory.
Extra donations meant that we were able to increase the number of days we provide school meals at the Church on the Rock School from 3 to 5 a week.
We continued to care for 28 orphaned and abandoned children in Mombasa, and extended the care to include 3 children in the local community
The Naivasha Polytechnic benefitted from receiving computers from Computers4Africa which enabled the IT course to be expanded. |
