Schools in UK often want to learn about life in Kenya, and the children in Kenya are equally keen to learn about life in Britain! Here are some options for schools to consider:
Newsletter swap: The schools exchange newsletters (eg once a term)
Pen pals: Individual pupils exchange letters which helps Kenyan students improve their English, which will in turn help them to get a better job when they leave school.
Email: Students can exchange emails.
Photo or video swap: Exchange of photos or video, for example “A day in the Life of a Kenyan student” and “A day ion the life of a UK student”.
Project work: If the school curriculum requires students to study a country such as Kenya, it would be possible to arrange exchange of information by email, CD, video, etc on the topic of interest.
Sponsorship: A sponsorship scheme operates at Tumaini Timbwani Primary School. UK pupils may wish to club together to sponsor a child. For example, if 12 children all paid £1 per month, they could collectively sponsor a child.
Visits: Visits can be arranged varying from a stay of a few hours while on holiday to an extended visit (eg as part of a gap year). See Visiting a project and Working on a project for further details.
