Naivasha tailoring project

The Naivasha Polytechnic provides training courses specifically for young people who cannot continue to higher education, mainly because their parents are too poor to support them.

Each training course includes an industrial attachment and instruction on how to set up and manage a business, maximising the opportunity for the young people to earn a living when they leave.

The Polytechnic’s strategic plan is to increase the sustainability of the institution by generating more local income. One way to do this is to change from providing traditional tailoring courses to become a manufacturing and training organisation.

The Rotary Club of Gravesend has provided a grant for the purchase of material and equipment to kick start the project which has begun to make a small profit.
