| 20 Fund-raising ideas you can adopt or adapt |
1. Marafun
Whether you can barely walk or run a 2 hour marathon, there’s an event for you. Have fun and raise funds for Footsteps. |
2. Facebook
Promote Footsteps and your event to your friends on Facebook. Invite your friends, family and colleagues to join your fundraising event. |
3. Double your money
Ask your company if it will match whatever sponsorship you raise. |
4. JustGiving
Set up a JustGiving page. Email everyone you know to let them know what you're doing and ask them to support you by donating via your fundraising page. |
5. Quiz night
Get your friends, family or colleagues together (at the pub, work, someone's house or on email).
Ask them to pay £5 and answer 50 questions. The winner gets half the money and the rest goes towards your fundraising target. |
6. eBay it
Sell off all your unwanted but priceless ‘stuff’ on eBay. |
7. Smarties tube
Buy a tube of Smarties and eat them. Then give your friends the EMPTY tube (!) and ask them to fill it with 20p or £1 coins. |
8. Make a Snake!
Organise a money snake! Mark out a wiggly line 30 metres long, and get people to donate their 2p pieces to complete the money snake.
When it is finished, you will have £25 - enough to keep a child off the streets for a month. |
9. Stairway to heaven
If you work in a high-rise building, get sponsored to take the stairs for a month. |
10. Dress down
Organise a dress down day and collect a £2 donation from all those that take part, and £5 from those that don't! |
11. Bad hair day
Hold a bad hair day and collect a £2 donation from everyone that takes part. |
12. One day fast
Get sponsored to go on a 24-hour fast (you’ll know how hungry a street boy is by the end of this!) |
13. Office mini Olympic challenge
Get everyone at your work involved in a mini Olympic challenge. Think up some fun competitions such as chair-racing, paper-dart throwing, tear a sheet of newspaper into the longest chain, who can punch most holes in a sheet of A4 in a minute. |
14. Grow your Own
Buy a packet of seeds, plant them and let them grow. Then sell the big plants for a bigger profit. |
15. Tea party
Organise an afternoon tea party at your house. Ask your neighbours to bring cakes, biscuits and drinks, and charge people 50p entrance! |
16. Go Without
Give up something you would really miss, like sweets or TV & get people to sponsor you for each day that you manage to go without. |
17. Ask Santa!
Add a MAD gift to your Christmas present list. |
18. Sponsored silence
Hold a sponsored silence. Ask your parents and neighbours to sponsor you to keep quiet! You could ask them to sponsor you for the whole day or per hour. |
19. Sponsored car wash
Wash all the neighbour’s cars (use loads of water so you don’t scratch the paint!). |
20. Spare Some Change
Empty your pockets, purse or wallet every day into an empty sweet jar. It soon adds up but you don’t notice. |
| Remember to email us a report and photos from your fundraising events and we’ll add you to our Fund-raising Heroes web page! |
